Get AI to run tasks on a schedule

NanthAI ·

NanthAI Edge can run an AI task for you on a timetable, such as a morning briefing or a Friday email digest, without you opening a chat. You write the task, choose the model and set the timing. Each run's output is kept in your task history. Scheduled tasks are a Pro feature.

What can a scheduled task do?

The site gives these examples:

  • A daily briefing that searches for industry news and summarises it in a writer persona.
  • A weekly report that gathers data from your connected tools, looks at trends and produces a formatted summary.
  • Content monitoring that checks for competitor announcements or product launches every day.
  • An email digest that summarises the week's emails every Friday afternoon.

A task can have several steps. Each step has its own model, persona, search setting and integration access, and the output of one step feeds into the next. For example, a researcher persona can gather material in step one, a writer persona can draft it in step two, and an editor persona can tidy it in step three.

How do I set one up?

  1. Create the task. Give it a name and describe what the AI should do. You can create a scheduled job from any chat conversation, or use the + button.
  2. Build the pipeline. Add one or more steps. Set the model, persona, search mode and integrations for each step.
  3. Set the schedule. Choose daily, weekly, specific days or on demand. Set the time and the timezone.
  4. Review the results. When a run finishes, its output appears in the task history. You can read it, run the task again by hand, or change the pipeline based on what you see.

Use a manual run to test a new task before you rely on its schedule. Manual runs also help when you want a result straight away rather than waiting for the next scheduled time.

Be specific in the task description about the sources to use, the length of the output and the format you want. If the first results are too long or miss the point, change the steps, models or prompts and run the task again. The task history lets you compare runs as you go.

For a news briefing, state the subject and the period the summary should cover. For a weekly report, describe the comparison you want, such as this week against the previous week. These details belong in the task description.

How will I hear about a finished run?

Scheduled job and research alerts are delivered as push notifications. You can control which notifications you get in the notification settings, under Scheduled Job Completions.

A task’s output is kept in its history. For a recurring briefing, put the information you want in the task description so each run has a clear purpose.

What do I need to use scheduled tasks?

  • Pro. Scheduled tasks, personas and integrations are all Pro features. Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription.
  • A model that supports tool use, if a step uses integrations. The app warns when a step has integrations turned on with a model that cannot use tools, and asks you to choose one that can. Without that, the integration is not used.
  • A connected account, for each integration. Email, calendar and Notion access needs you to connect the account first. The integrations guide explains each connection.
  • Pro for some search modes. Basic web search is included in the free plan. Some deeper search modes need Pro, and the app says so when you choose one.

Try it

Open chat.nanthai.tech and create a small test task, such as a daily summary of one topic, and run it by hand before you set a schedule. The automated tasks page lists every option, and the search page explains the web search modes.
