Connect AI to Gmail, Google Calendar and Notion

NanthAI ·

NanthAI Edge can connect to Gmail, Google Calendar and Notion, so the AI can read, search and act on them inside a chat. Connecting accounts is a Pro feature. You manage the available connections in Settings › Integrations.

What can the AI do with each one?

  • Gmail: search, read, summarise, draft and send emails. The AI asks you to confirm before it sends.
  • Google Calendar: view upcoming events, find free slots, create new events and manage your schedule.
  • Notion: search and read pages and databases, and create and update pages.

Each connection only works with what you allow. The AI reads your data when you ask it to, or when a scheduled task you set up needs it.

How should I start with Gmail?

Gmail connects only through Manual Gmail, using a Google app password over IMAP/SMTP. It does not use Google sign-in or request Gmail OAuth scopes.

  1. Enable 2-Step Verification in your Google Account.
  2. Create an app password for NanthAI in your Google Account security settings.
  3. Open Settings › Integrations › Manual Gmail, enter your Gmail address and paste the generated app password. Use the app password, rather than your normal Google password, then connect.

Workspace admins can disable app passwords. If the option is unavailable, contact your admin. These are the same setup steps shown in the app.

Start with a request to find or summarise a message so you can check the account and result.

Keep the request narrow, such as “Find the latest email about the conference booking and summarise the dates”. That makes it easier to compare the answer with the original message. If you want an email draft, say who it is for and what it should cover. The AI asks you to confirm before sending an email. You can review the draft at that point.

How do I connect Google Calendar and Notion?

Go to Settings › Integrations and tap Connect for Google or for Notion. You are taken to the provider's own sign-in and permission screen. Read what it asks for before you approve.

  • Google Calendar and Google Drive connect through Google sign-in (OAuth). This connection does not connect Gmail.
  • Notion connects only the pages and workspace content you choose on Notion's connection screen.

Google and Notion access tokens can be revoked at any time. Edge stores only the tokens and connection details it needs to act for you.

Which AI models can use Google connections?

Google integrations need a model with Zero Data Retention from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. If you pick another model, the app says it cannot be used with Google Workspace integrations. Switch to one of those models to use Google connections.

Some steps also need a model that supports tool use. The app asks you to choose one if a model cannot use tools.

What happens to my data?

Connected data is read only when you connect the provider and use a feature that needs it, such as a chat request or a scheduled task. Edge may send that data to the AI model you chose, through OpenRouter or another model provider. Each of those providers handles the data under its own terms. NanthAI Edge does not sell personal data, and it does not use Google user data for advertising.

How do I disconnect?

  • To remove Google Drive and Calendar access, use Disconnect Google in Settings › Integrations.
  • To remove Notion, use Disconnect Notion in the same place.
  • Disconnect Manual Gmail separately in Settings › Integrations. You can also revoke its app password in your Google Account security settings.
  • To revoke access at the provider, use the app permissions or account settings for Google or Notion.

After you disconnect, the related tools stop working until you connect again.

What should a useful request include?

Name the account or service and the period you mean. For a calendar question, include the day and say whether you want event details or a summary. For Notion, name the page or topic rather than asking about the entire workspace. A specific request gives you something concrete to check in the connected service.

You can use a persona to keep the style of an answer consistent, but the connection still supplies the underlying information. A persona’s writing instructions do not make an old email or an incomplete page more current. Check the source when the distinction matters.

Try it

Connect one account, then ask the AI a simple question in chat.nanthai.tech, such as what is on your calendar tomorrow. The integrations page lists every provider Edge supports, including Microsoft, Slack, Cloze and Apple Calendar. The automated tasks page explains how to run these connections on a schedule.
